Additional attention to traditional cardiovascular (CV) risk factors could yield further substantive reductions in CV events and mortality in adults with diabetes, according to a nationwide analysis. The authors observed that of patients with cardiovascular disease, 11% of CV events were associated with inadequate risk factor control, compared with 3% of CV deaths. Of patients without cardaiovascular disease, 34% of CV events were associated with inadequate risk factor control, compared to 7% of CV deaths.
